Decorative Retractable Garden Hose Reel

Liked it so much in the back yard I got one for the front! I thought the holes would work on a 4x4 but of course a 4x4 is not 4 inches wide. I wound up installing it right on the stucco wall. With 5 screws it's not going anywhere. I used a drill bit close to the size of the insert wiggle-waggled it a little then pounded the insert in.Pulling out the hose a long distance isn't hard. Of course it takes more pull the further out you go because the "spring" for return is tighter the more you pull it. The click stop then holds the hose where you want it. Give it a little pull and it starts rewinding! Follow it in so it doesn't rewind too fast. If you want to stop just stop and pull the hose toward you a little and it will hold again until you are done in that area.

I purchased this hose in July of 2024. It worked well for a couple months, but then began leaking inside the reel. The leak was fairly minor and since I was past the return window, I chose not to take any action and just continue using the hose since it still did what I needed it to do.Then, 3 months later, the hose started to leak at the sprayer end where the hose attaches to the threaded fixture. This one was a major leak, making the hose unusable (unless you don't mind getting totally soaked by the gushing hose end).I have always been very careful with how I pull out and retract the hose. So the leaks are not due to any rough use on my part but rather weakness from the manufacturing. The hose was also not exposed to any extreme temperatures. To spend over $100 for a hose that functioned for barely 6 months is not acceptable.One final gripe. I ordered the 5/8” hose. If this hose is 5/8”, both my husband and I need to relearn how to measure. It measures as 1/2” and has the flow capacity of 1/2”, not 5/8”This review page will only let me upload one video per review, so I can't show you the other leak from the reel itself, but two separate leaks in 6 months- very unsatisfactory.

Make life easier

We don't use the hose much just to wash our cars and rinse the front porch down every month. It is not easy to attach a the side of the house with the equipment provided but stuko is a nightmare regardless. AZ heat can be a lot so when not in use it's kept in the garage to protect it. Well after exactly 1 year of use (12 uses to be exact) the thing exploded in my husband's face. Needless to say he wasn't happy and I was glad he happened to have on safety glasses at the time otherwise we could have wound up in the ER. Just emailed the company and hoping to hear something back since it's says they will replace for any reason within 3 years. It looks like it is almost impossible to open and replace the hose yourself which sucks since the thing was $100! Hoping the company will just replace the whole unit even though I feel like it's wasteful. Going to give them an opportunity to replace the unit before adjusting my review.

I purchased 2 of these in 2022 and both of them have, over the past 2 years developed multiple leaks in the hose. These appear as small holes in the hose. I have cut and repaired them multiple times and the leaks continue to arrive.
